The 49ers will bring back a defensive player who stepped up amidst the team's rash of injuries last season. San Francisco is re-signing linebacker Garret Wallow to a one-year deal. Wallow, 27, played four games for the 49ers last season. He started both playoff games in the wake of injuries to linebackers Tatum Bethune and Dee Winters.

The fourth-year linebacker proved to be key in the 49ers’ wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles, tallying a game-high 11 total tackles. Wallow began the 2025 NFL season with the Denver Broncos bouncing back-and-forth between their active roster and practice squad. He played just one defensive snap in his seven games in Denver.
