NEPALI AMERICANS IN THE BAY AREA CONTINUE FUNDRAISING FOR FLOOD RELIEF EFFORTS

Many Bay Area residents have loved ones who were impacted by the devastating flooding this week at the border between Nepal and China's Tibet region. In Nepal, the country's disaster agency reports that 781 people have died and more than 2,500 people remain missing. China has reported 16 deaths and 546 people missing in the Tibet region.

Members of the Bay Area Nepalese community and local supporters gathered Sunday for an emergency relief fundraiser and candlelight vigil in Berkeley. Quite a few of the people in attendance knew people who had been reported as dead or missing in the flooding. The event was hosted by the Taste of the Himalayas restaurant on Shattuck Avenue.
