The legendary Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, fondly known as S.P. Bala or SPB, has recorded more than 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages. The famous playback singer has been gracing us with beautiful Indian music since the 1960s and has performed live concerts with his band and also with the maestro, Ilaiyaraaja.

Bay Area has been witness to the our beloved Bala-sir's shows, and these were the things that you wouldn't want to miss even if he performed year after year to the same audience. He would take us on a journey back through his musical hits from the 60s to the 90s and through the 2000s. His timeless classics are a sure favourite throughout the world. In fact Bay Area would probably be the only city that has back-back sold out SPB shows in telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

S.P. Bala, with his soft, soulful voice has gone on to win many awards throughout his career since the 1960s. The playback singer made his international break in 1980 with the film Sankarabharanam from which he received his first National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. With more the five decades of experience in the industry, it’s safe to say that SPB is one of the most dedicated workers. Despite his age he continues to perform and win awards every year. In 2016 he was honoured with the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the year and in 2018 the prestigious SD Burman International Award for Creative Sound and Music for his contributions. Amongst many other civilian awards, it is clear that Bala’s talent has not only been seen on a national level but has also been recognized on a international one. We will miss you sir... may you soul RIP!
