A rally is scheduled in Oakland on Saturday against this week’s gun violence, which included a deadly shootout during a robbery attempt at a local business. Mayor Barbara Lee says the robbery that turned into a double-fatal shooting Wednesday night underscores the challenges her city and the broader region face.

Community leaders in Oakland are calling on the police to do more to protect businesses like Eddy Cash For Gold even though, as the police point out, overall crime is down by more than 25%.
