SEARCH CONTINUES FOR HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER WHO STRUCK TEEN BIKE RIDER IN HAYWARD

A 15-year-old boy is asking for the public's help in finding the driver who struck him while he was riding a bike in Hayward last month. Jefferson Pineda was seriously injured at about 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 14 while riding an e-bike at the intersection of Alice and B streets near the Hayward BART station. Police said the driver ran a stop sign, struck Pineda and didn’t stop. Pineda broke several bones and is still recovering from head and leg injuries.
Pineda and his family have been asking residents if their cameras captured the collision or images of the hit-and-run suspect."Face up, be a man or something," Pineda said. "You hit a kid. How are you going to hit a kid and just leave him there? What if he dies or something? What if I would've died? I don't want to ride ever again, to be honest." Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Hayward police.
