The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), currently probing the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, today filed a case in Delhi. The NCB has registered a case under Sections 20, 22, 27 and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The NCB has also booked Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty and others, against whom the ED had prepared a case.

A team led by Deputy Director of Operations (NCB) KPS Malhotra will be supervising the case. The three-member Delhi team will be working on the case along with the Mumbai team. On Friday, the Delhi team will leave for Mumbai.

Apart from Rhea and Showik Jaya Saha, Shruti Modi and Gaurav Arya, an alleged Pune-based drug peddler who is currently active in GOa will also be investigated.

On Tuesday, August 25, ED wrote to NCB asking them to probe the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. In an interaction with India Today, Rakesh Asthana, director of Narco Control Bureau, had confirmed the same. He had said, "We are also starting the investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case."

Meanwhile, India Today accessed WhatsApp messages retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty's mobile phone to Jaya Saha, which made it clear that Rhea sporadically used drugs like MDMA, marijuana, among others.

Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer, however, in a statement, said she has never consumed drugs and is ready for a blood test any time to prove the same.

Earlier today (August 26), senior officials meet NCB director Rakesh Asthana to discuss the ED's recommendation with regards to Rhea Chakraborty's WhatsApp messages.

The team is likely to quiz her and others to enquire details of their WhatsApp chat and unearth information about the drug dealers.

Sources said, the NCB team will start its probe by quizzing Rhea, Samuel Miranda, Jaya Saha and Gaurav Aarya.
