WNBA EXPANSION FRANCHISE GOLDEN STATE HIRES OHEMAA NYANIN AS ITS GENERAL MANAGER




Ohemaa Nyanin has been appointed as the general manager for the WNBA Golden State team, as announced by the franchise on Monday. In her new role, Nyanin will be responsible for overseeing all basketball operations, including roster construction, team building, and player development. She will announce to Warriors co-executive chairman and CEO Joe Lacob and will commence her duties with the team next week.

Lacob expressed confidence in Nyanin's ability to lead the team's WNBA basketball operations, especially as they prepare for their inaugural season in 2025. He praised her impressive knowledge of the WNBA and international women's basketball landscape, gained from her experience with the New York Liberty and USA Basketball. Additionally, Lacob highlighted Nyanin's passion for building a strong team culture and winning games.

Nyanin joins WNBA Golden State after spending over five years with the New York Liberty, where she held various roles, including her most recent position as the team's assistant general manager.
