Indian steel and aluminium exports to the European Union will face a carbon-linked cost from January 1, 2026, as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) moves from the reporting phase to its payment-linked stage, according to a report by the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI). The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has allowed app-based aggregators and delivery platforms in Delhi-NCR to continue inducting BS-VI-compliant petrol two-wheelers till Dec 31, 2026. The decision, issued in a new order dated Dec 23, modified CAQM's June directive that barred the addition of diesel or petrol-run vehicles into service fleets of aggregators, delivery service providers and e-commerce companies from Jan 1, 2026.
