49ERS QB BROCK PURDY DAZZLES VS. DOLPHINS IN FRONT OF CHILDHOOD IDOL DAN MARINO
Brock Purdy recorded one of his best performances in the 49ers’ 35-13 win over the Miami Dolphins while also in front of his childhood idol. Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, who now is a special advisor to the Dolphins' Vice Chairmen, was in attendance on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium, making the game even more special than usual for the 49ers signal-caller.
Purdy was born Dec. 27, 1999, the same day Marino completed 29 of his 52 attempts for 322 yards with three touchdowns in a victory over the New York Jets. Because of that game, Purdy always looked up to Marino, wanting to play in the same style and even wearing No. 13 like the NFL great. The 26-year-old produced numbers similar to the Dolphins icon, completing 20 of his 22 attempts for 287 yards with two touchdowns and a 149.1 rating. Purdy also was responsible for one of the 49ers' two rushing scores.
