The government may have tightened its fiscal belt to handle the burden of the Rs 30,000 crore required for poll guarantees, but it has loosened its purse strings to buy its ministers the popular multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Innova Hycross, which costs around Rs 30 lakh each. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has given the green signal to purchase 33 hybrid Hycross vehicles from Toyota, which will cost the exchequer about Rs 10 crore in all.
