California is set to become the first state to ban most law enforcement officers, including federal immigration agents, from covering their faces while conducting official duties, under a new law signed by Governor Gavin Newsom on Saturday.

Applies to most law enforcement, including federal immigration agents operating in California. Officers will be prohibited from wearing masks or face coverings that obscure their identity while performing official duties (with some exceptions, such as health-related concerns or undercover operations).
