EYEING REVENUE BOOST, MCD PRESENTS SURPLUS BUDGET

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday signalled a financial turnaround as standing committee chairperson Satya Sharma presented what she called the civic body's first surplus budget that was backed by 15 initiatives aimed at strengthening revenues and reducing dependence on borrowings.
Sharma said MCD has projected an income of Rs 17,044.06 crore against an estimated expenditure of Rs 16,697.5 crore for 2026–27. The committee made revisions to the estimates given by the MCD commissioner, who had proposed an income of Rs 15,664.06 crore and expenditure of Rs 16,530.50 crore.
