GIANTS BROADCASTER MIKE KRUKOW ANNOUNCES HE WILL RETIRE AT THE END OF 2026 SEASON

At Oracle Park, his second home for nearly three decades, Mike Krukow has never been Mike. Everyone -- from Buster Posey to the ushers and security guards that Krukow has always greeted so warmly -- knows him as Kruk, and more commonly he's referenced as one half of Kruk and Kuip, the duo that has raised multiple generations of Giants fans.
They are best friends and have been since the moment they first met in the Giants clubhouse. But after the final game of this season, they will no longer be together in the broadcast booth. Krukow and the Giants announced Thursday morning that this will be the legendary color commentator's final season. This is not goodbye. Krukow hopes to be involved with the organization in some form, but the physical limitations from inclusion body myositis, a degenerative muscle disease he has been fighting for 20 years, finally made it too difficult to continue working games. "I don't want to quit," Krukow said in a phone interview. "Unfortunately the rules change, first from year to year and then month to month and now it's day to day. It's becoming unsafe. My home in Reno is much safer and it really is the determining factor in how I can't do games anymore."
