Indian importers have stepped up advance purchases of South American soybean oil, securing large volumes for delivery from April to July 2026 as they brace for a potential jump in palm oil prices next year.
Aashish Acharya, vice president at Patanjali Foods Ltd, said buyers have committed to more than 150,000 tons of soybean oil for each of those months. This buying interest grew after soybean oil began trading at an unusual $20–$30 discount to palm oil, a reversal of its typical premium.
