A judge said on Friday he had no choice but to declare a mistrial in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy for killing her three young children, a tragedy her attorney said occurred while she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
Judge William Sullivan announced his intention after jurors sent a note indicating they were unable to reach a verdict. But he held off on formally declaring a mistrial to allow Clancy's defense lawyer to file an emergency appeal in a last effort to order jurors to resume their deliberations.
