The four-lane 800-metre long bridge over the Kasheli creek was opened, providing partial relief to motorists using the new Mumbai-Nashik highway. Widening work at several crucial parts, including that at Kharegaon, and Pimplas among others, are yet to be completed.
Officials said complete relief for motorists will be only after the entire stretch of the highway from Majiwada to Amane is completely widened. The highway is a crucial link connecting Mumbai with Nashik and rest of North Maharashtra and is also the sole link to the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi highway.
