An early season heat wave baking the Bay Area this week is breaking records. Santa Rosa and San Rafael set new monthly high temperature marks. Santa Rosa's high of 92 degrees broke the previous March record of 91 degrees from March 16, 2024.
Richmond (88 degrees) set a new all-time monthly high temperature mark, breaking the old record of 87 degrees from March 18, 2021. Redwood City (93 degrees) and the Oakland Museum (89 degrees) set new all-time high temperature marks for March. San Francisco International Airport (85 degrees) and Salinas Airport (92 degrees) tied their monthly high temperature records, the weather service said. Monday's 90-degree high in Redwood City marks the hottest March day at that location since record-keeping started.
