A nonprofit announced Thursday they had purchased the Empress of China, an iconic building in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

The Empress of China is one of the more noticeable buildings in the heart of Chinatown, and those who are shaping its future shared their vision with community and culture in mind. The nonprofit that bought it said their aim is to make it a cornerstone of a cultural campus in Chinatown.
