The Portuguese government has postponed its decision to next week on whether to reappoint Mario Centeno as Governor of the Bank of Portugal or appoint someone new. His current five‑year term is scheduled to end this Saturday, July 19.
Finance Minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento confirmed that Friday’s cabinet meeting concluded without a decision, and the issue will now be revisited in the coming week
