S&P 500 AND NASDAQ PAUSE ON FRESH FED PRESSURE

The S&P 500 paused near record highs on Monday as ​gains in artificial intelligence stocks and Walmart helped the index recover from an early slide driven by concerns ‌over the Federal Reserve's independence.

The three main indexes opened lower after the Trump administration threatened to indict Fed Chair Jerome Powell over his Congressional testimony on a renovation project.
