A high-profile trial over artificial intelligence resumes Monday morning in Oakland, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is expected to take the stand at some point. Elon Musk is suing Altman and OpenAI for $134 billion, claiming the company abandoned its original nonprofit mission and instead shifted toward making a profit — while using his connections and expertise.

Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, testified for more than seven hours over three days last week. He told the court the company was originally created as a charity focused on developing AI that is safe and beneficial to humanity, without the pressure to make money. He said he became concerned after Microsoft made a multibillion-dollar investment in OpenAI and was given access to its GPT-3 technology. Musk also raised concerns about Altman allegedly moving assets into the company’s for-profit arm.
