San Francisco police Chief Bill Scott is leaving the department to take the same role with another jurisdiction, he and Mayor Daniel Lurie announced Wednesday.

Scott, the longest-serving chief in department history, was sworn in back in 2017 after spending 27 years with the Los Angeles Police Department, Lurie said.
