Tens of thousands of students return to classes Wednesday after a historic, week-long teachers strike at San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) that ended with some big wins for educators. Superintendent Dr. Maria Su of SFUSD will welcome students back into classrooms Wednesday morning, mirroring the start of the school year.

Earlier in the month, around 6,000 educators took to the picket lines, shuttering schools for five days. The teachers union—United Educators of San Francisco—and SFUSD reached a tentative $183 million teachers deal early Friday morning after 13 hours of overnight negotiations.
