WALL ST EDGES UP AS TESLA AND APPLE GAIN

Updated: May 1

On Monday, Wall Street's main indexes experienced volatile trading, with shares of Tesla and Apple leading the gains. Tesla shares surged by nearly 14.5%, driving a 1.6% rise in the consumer discretionary sector, after the company cleared regulatory hurdles for its self-driving software in China. Meanwhile, Apple added 3.1% following reports of renewed discussions with OpenAI regarding AI technology, leading Bernstein to upgrade the stock to "outperform."

Investors exercised caution ahead of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision later in the week. Despite this, U.S. stocks closed higher on Friday, supported by moderate inflation data and strong quarterly results from technology giants Alphabet and Microsoft.
