APPLE RECALLS iPHONE & iPAD CHARGERS OVER ELECTROCUTION FEARS

Apple is recalling some two-prong plug adapters designed for use in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Continental Europe, New Zealand and South Korea amid fears they could electrocute users. The adapters in question were shipped with iOS devices over the past 12 years and with the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit. Apple says customers should stop using their adapter immediately and visit a special website to find out how to exchange their charger for a new one.

DONALD TRUMP REFUSES TO PARTICIPATE IN GOP DEBATE ON FOX NEWS

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has announced here he will not participate in today’s scheduled debate, escalating his feud with Fox News Channel. Trump’s assertion comes less than a week before the Iowa caucus kicks-off. According to Trump, Fox and other television networks have been taking advantage of him by selling advertisements for their debates at a high premium. Trump has said he would instead host a competing event in Des Moines designed to raise money for wounded veterans.

SWEDEN MAY DEPORT 80,000 REFUGEES

According to media reports, Sweden is preparing to expel 80,000 asylum-seekers over the course of the next year. Sweden is already considering charter flights to deport migrants whose bids for asylum has been denied. Sweden is one of the most desirable final destinations for migrants entering Europe. A rise in high-profile crimes associated with migrants in the country has led to the introduction of hard-line policies. Last year, 163,000 people sought asylum in Sweden.

WHO RAISES ALARM ON THE OUTBREAK OF ZIKA VIRUS

The World Health Organization (WHO) will hold an emergency meeting to find ways to stop the transmission of the Zika virus. According to the organization, the virus is spreading 'explosively' across the Americas. The pathogen, which was virtually unheard of until a year ago, is spreading so fast it could infect as many as 3 to 4 mn people within 12 months. The Zika virus is primarily transmitted by a mosquito species known as aegypti, which lives in every country in North and South America except Canada and Chile. Possible side effects of the virus include brain defects in children and paralysis in adults.
