North Carolina recently passed a bill that prevents individuals from using bathrooms that were not aligned with their biological sex, the one they were born with. The law was directed at the growing transgender population, aiming to bar men who identified themselves as women, and vice versa, from entering the bathroom that they chose to. However, the federal government has taken issue with the bill, calling it discrimination. They demanded that North Carolina make changes, but the state retaliated by saying that the government was overreaching. The two are set to face off in court after North Carolinian officials sued the U.S. Justice Department.

TRUMP: ‘PRINT THE MONEY’

When asked about his strategy for clearing up the national debt, Republican nominee Donald Trump said that the U.S. would never default because we just print the money. He added that the best way to go about reducing the debt would be to buy back debt at a discount, if interest rates are raised. Trump’s approach to debt diverges from the establishment Republicans’ approach. Whereas politicians such as House Speaker Paul Ryan say they would bail out Medicare and social security, Trump says that we would not touch any of the entitlement programs.

CRUISE SHIP STRUCK BY VIRUS

A British cruise ship faced an infestation of gastrointestinal condition norovirus, resulting in over 200 falling sick. According to the CDC, 27% of the passengers on the ship have been afflicted by the bug. On April 30, CDC officials boarded the ship in Baltimore, Maryland and confirmed the existence of the norovirus. As a result, the ship’s disinfectant and sanitation procedures have been intensified. Norovirus is the most common form of acute gastroenteritis, more commonly known as the stomach bug.
