AC TRANSIT PREPARES FOR POSSIBLE SERVICE REDUCTIONS

AC Transit approved contingency plans as the agency faces a $50 million deficit. This week, the board of directors approved two plans that involve cutting bus services and layoffs.

The most extreme plan would cut 16% of bus service and cut up to 300 jobs. AC Transit indicated that without secured funding, changes may be implemented as early as summer 2027.
