The BJP appeared set to form the government in Manipur after the party on Monday appointed senior leader Tarun Chugh as central observer to oversee the election of the leader of its legislature party in the northeastern state, which has been under President’s rule since February last year.
The move came ahead of the expiry of the President's Rule, which was imposed on February 13, 2025, and extended in August. It also followed the arrival of BJP-led NDA legislators from Manipur in the national capital after they were summoned by the party’s central leadership.
