The Gilroy City Council is expected to vote Monday night on whether to temporarily ban the development of new data centers across the city.

Data centers house computer systems used to power artificial intelligence and other technology. The facilities can be large and noisy for nearby residents and use significant amounts of electricity and water for cooling, putting additional strain on power and water systems.
