HIGHWAY 101 REOPENS IN SAN FRANCISCO AFTER LABOR DAY WEEKEND CLOSURES

Highway 101 through San Francisco reopened Monday morning following three days of closures for repaving work. The northbound lanes had been closed as Caltrans crews worked to restore the highway surface, forcing Labor Day weekend drivers to use alternate routes around the work zones.

The project included repaving the highway and replacing rebar beneath the new asphalt. A Caltrans spokesperson said Sunday night that crews were waiting for newly poured concrete to cure and harden enough to withstand the weight of traffic.
