IMF SAYS GLOBAL 'SOFT LANDING' IN SIGHT, LIFTS 2024 GROWTH OUTLOOK
On Tuesday, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) raised its projection for global economic growth, revising upwards forecasts for both the United States and China, the world's top two economies. This adjustment was attributed to a quicker-than-anticipated alleviation of inflation pressures.
Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, the IMF's chief economist, remarked that the updated World Economic Outlook suggested the possibility of a "soft landing," though overall growth and global trade continued to lag behind historical norms.
