INDIA'S COAL PRODUCTION RISES 10 PERCENT IN JANUARY

In January, India's coal production surged by 10.3% to reach 99.73 Million Tonnes (MT), compared to the same month in the previous fiscal year when production stood at 90.42 MT. Moreover, the coal production for the April-January period escalated to 784.11 MT (Provisional), marking a significant increase from 698.99 MT recorded during the same period in 2022-23.

Additionally, coal dispatches in January climbed to 87.37 MT, up from 82.02 MT in January of the previous fiscal year. "Concurrently, the coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP), specifically at the location identified as DCB (Domestic Coal Based), marked a notable increase to 36.16 MT on the same date, with an annual growth rate of 15.26 per cent," it said.
