INDIA'S PLAIN GOLD JEWELLERY EXPORTS RISE 66% BUT SILVER JEWELLERY NEARLY HALVES




The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported a significant surge in the exports of plain gold jewellery from India during the 2023-24 period, marking a 66% increase compared to the previous year. The total value of exports reached Rs 56,330 crore, up from Rs 33,765 crore in the previous year. Major markets such as the UAE, Bahrain, and Australia were instrumental in driving this demand.

In addition to plain gold jewellery, the gross export of total gold jewellery, including both plain and studded varieties, experienced a notable growth of 20.51%, reaching Rs 93,087 crore compared to Rs 77,247 crore in the previous year. However, the overall gross export of gems and jewellery witnessed a decline of 11.66%, totaling Rs 2,67,374 crore compared to Rs 3,02,673 crore in the previous period.
