Sunil Wadhwani, along with his brother Romesh Wadhwani, was recognised in the prestigious Time100 AI list back in 2023. A billionaire entrepreneur in the US, including co- founder and CEO of iGate Corporation; it’s no surprise that Wadhwani decided to invest in AI. But the difference was that Wadhwani AI, an India-based NGO, was founded with the mission to develop and deploy AI solutions for social good.
Launched in 2018, with $30 million initially, Wadhwani AI is an independent, non-profit institute, based in India, developing solutions using artificial intelligence, machine learning and data sciences for a variety of sectors, including health care, education and agriculture, partnering with governments in the global south.
