MARTINEZ WILL DEDICATE NEW LANDMARK MURAL HIGHLIGHTING LOCAL ICONS

The city of Martinez and the Joe DiMaggio Hometown Hero Project are inviting the community to celebrate the completion and dedication of the new "Welcome to Martinez" mural. The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday. It will take place across from the Martinez Amtrak Station, located at 330 Ferry St.

Described as a colorful tribute to the people, places, and stories that make Martinez special, the mural features local icons and history, including Joe DiMaggio, John Muir, the martini, the local waterfront and railroad heritage. Organizers say the gathering will officially dedicate the new landmark while honoring the artists, supporters, donors, community partners and volunteers who helped bring the vision to life.
