MATT MAIOCCO'S 53-MAN ROSTER PROJECTION AFTER 49ERS' PRESEASON GAME VS. BRONCOS

The 49ers’ preseason opener was all about the bottom of the team’s roster. Coach Kyle Shanahan opted to play it safe with the team’s regulars after many of the veteran mainstays got in a lot of work in a joint practice with the Denver Broncos on Thursday in Santa Clara.

There were 33 players who did not suit up for the 49ers on Saturday night in San Franciso's 30-9 loss to the Broncos. Only three projected Week 1 starters — left guard Ben Bartch, linebacker Dee Winters and safety Jason Pinnock — took the field for the preseason game at Levi’s Stadium.
