San Francisco teachers will return to the classroom after reaching a tentative deal on a new contract with the school district. Educators first walked off the job and onto picket lines on Monday, Feb. 9, forcing the San Francisco Unified School District to shut down schools.
The strike, which was the first by San Francisco teachers in nearly 50 years, left about 50,000 students out of school for at least a week. Teachers and staff will return to their work sites on Friday, while students are expected to return to classes Wednesday.
