The Grammy Awards not only honor those who produce and perform music but also recognize educators who teach others how to create music. The Music Educator Award, presented by the Recording Academy and Grammy Museum, celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to music education. This year, the award was bestowed upon Annie Ray, the performing arts department chair and orchestra director at Annandale High School in Fairfax County, Virginia. Ray was recognized for her dedication to making music accessible to all students, including those with disabilities.

Attending the awards ceremony in Los Angeles, Ray had the opportunity to interact with pop stars, take selfies, and receive both a $10,000 prize and a matching grant for her school's music program. Despite the accolades, Ray humbly views the award as a recognition of her entire school's music program rather than just her own achievement.
