In January, the British public's expectations for inflation saw an increase, possibly influenced by concerns regarding disruptions to shipping in the Red Sea. Expectations for inflation over the next five to 10 years rose to 3.6% in January from 3.4% in December, marking the highest level since April 2023.

Additionally, expectations for inflation over the next 12 months reached a two-month high of 3.9% in January, up from 3.5% in December. These findings suggest heightened concerns among the public regarding future inflationary pressures.
