Jordan Stolz won his first-ever Olympic gold medal. The 21‑year‑old Wisconsin native dominated the men’s 1000m speed skating event on Wednesday, setting an Olympic record with a time of 1:06.28.
Stolz entered the event as the world‑record holder (1:05.37) and a two‑time world champion in the distance. After sweeping all five World Cup races in the 1,000 this season, he arrived at the Winter Games as the clear favorite.
