VETERAN WIDE RECEIVER KHADAREL HODGE REPORTEDLY TO SIGN WITH 49ERS AMID INJURIES

The depleted 49ers are just in need of bodies at some positions. San Francisco's latest training camp signing, though, might actually have a shot at making the team's final 53-man roster. After agreeing to sign pass rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo on Monday, the 49ers also will sign veteran wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge to a contract, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday morning.

The 31-year-old Hodge originally signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2018, and in eight NFL seasons with Los Angeles, the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons, recorded a combined 67 receptions for 1,026 yards (15.3 Y/R) and two touchdowns. However, Hodge primarily has thrived as a special teams ace and gunner, where he earned a Pro Bowl nod for his 2024 season. While he certainly will provide veteran depth to a 49ers wide receivers room that has suffered injuries to Ricky Pearsall (season-ending PCL surgery), Mike Evans (mild quad strain), Christian Kirk (calf strain) and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring tightness), Hodge's best chance to make San Francisco's initial 53-man roster might be on special teams.
